About this course
Artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities for organisations, but adopting AI successfully requires more than choosing the right technology. Those leading AI adoption need to consider where AI can create genuine value, understand and manage emerging risks, establish appropriate governance, and bring people with them through change.
Navigate AI for Leaders: Governance and Strategy is a practical, evidence-based short course informed by the University of Tasmania's expertise in information and communication technology and digital innovation. Designed for professionals who lead, influence or support organisational AI adoption, the course builds the judgement and practical capability needed to navigate AI opportunities, risks, governance and change responsibly and effectively.
Rather than focusing on a particular AI product or tool, you'll explore the organisational decisions that matter as AI capabilities continue to evolve. Through leadership challenges, real-world scenarios, interactive activities and practical frameworks, you'll learn how to:
- identify where AI could create meaningful value for your organisation
- assess AI-related risks, including reliability, bias, privacy, security and data quality
- establish governance approaches that support accountability, oversight and responsible innovation
- evaluate organisational readiness and plan for successful AI adoption
- build workforce capability and support people through AI-enabled change
- monitor AI initiatives and use evidence to drive continuous improvement
Throughout the course, you'll apply practical leadership frameworks to organisational scenarios and your own context. These tools come together in the Navigate AI Leadership Playbook, a reusable resource designed to help you identify opportunities, assess risk, establish governance, implement responsibly, and evaluate and improve your organisation's approach to AI over time.
By the end of the course, you'll be better equipped to ask the right questions, make informed decisions about AI investment and adoption, and establish the governance and oversight needed to keep people, organisational objectives and responsible practice at the centre of AI decision-making.
Designed for anyone leading or influencing AI adoption in their organisation, the course keeps the focus on strategic and organisational decisions rather than coding or technical implementation. Whether you manage a team, shape policy or strategy, oversee risk or governance, lead transformation, or are simply helping your organisation navigate AI adoption, you'll gain practical frameworks you can apply in your own context.
