UniStart

Build the skills and connections you need to hit the ground running at uni though our online introduction program.

Congratulations on taking the next step towards studying at university. If you’re starting uni for the first time, or it’s been a little while, you probably have a million questions. That’s why we’ve created a free online program called UniStart.

Whether you are joining us from Tasmania, interstate or overseas, UniStart is available for all new students who want to hit the ground running. Most of the content is self-paced, but you're also invited to join us for a series of live webinars throughout the year.

What does UniStart cover?

Enrolling and eStudent

If you haven't enrolled, this is the most important first task. We'll take you through eStudent which you'll use to plan your course, enrol in units each semester, and create invoices to pay your fees.

Key systems you'll use at uni

In this part of the course, you’ll master the University’s key systems including the Student Portal, MyLO, Student Timetable, Zoom and student email before your lectures and tutorials begin.

Connections and support

Whether you are studying with us online or on-campus, you're definitely not alone. We’ll show you how to connect with staff and other students no matter where you live and what you’re studying.

Building your study toolkit

From critical thinking, note taking and study strategies, to lessons on referencing and assignment writing, there's plenty of opportunities to develop key skills that will help you get ahead at uni.

Planning your semester

Access video guides, templates and checklists to help plan your week, get assignments in on time, and map out your study time. There's also a getting started checklist you can tick off.

Orientation week

Before classes start in Semester 1 and 2 each year, you’ll join us at Orientation Week. Through UniStart, we’ll introduce you to your course, key staff and help you navigate the not-to-miss activities and events.

UniStart webinar series

In addition to the self-paced modules and discussion boards, you can also access a number of free webinars throughout the year.

Many take place leading up to and during Orientation Week, while others run throughout the year to help you build your study toolkit.

Register for as many webinars as you like. Each session is also recorded, and we'll email you the link the day after so you can catch up online.
