Designed to be ‘Just in Time’ for new Medical Sales Representatives to rapidly start in the role, this training provides a foundation to ethical communication with healthcare professionals in support of Quality Use of Medicines. Learn industry terminology, the foundations of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct, and apply principles to ethical dilemmas and interactions. Gain an understanding of product information and how this may be delivered to healthcare professionals.
This JIT training will take approximately 3-5 hours of study. A transcript will be provided upon completion.
The cost of this training is $150 incl. GST.
Intended Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- Outline the governance of prescription medicines
- Describe the role of Medicines Australia and the purpose of the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
- Describe access to healthcare and medicines in Australia
- Identify promotional materials and their appropriate audience
- Differentiate between promotional activities and scientific exchange
- Outline the different roles of medical sales representatives and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) officers
- Understand the ethical and professional approach to marketing to healthcare professionals
- Describe the form for Product Information and identify sections of the Product Information based on content
- Apply Product Information to the delivery of balanced information to the healthcare professional
- Describe the purpose of starter packs and trade packs
- Evaluate which educational materials and items of value are appropriate provisions for healthcare professionals during sales meetings
- Outline the principles that apply to hospitality during sales meetings
- Evaluate appropriate interactions between representatives and healthcare professionals
- Apply the Medicines Australia Overarching Principles to the medical sales representative role and real-life scenarios
