University of Tasmania Basketball Academy

A clear pathway for young basketballers, supporting development from grassroots through to representative and university level.

The UTAS Basketball Academy is a dedicated athlete development program designed to support young basketballers from grassroots participation through to representative basketball, university competition, and elite pathways.

Led by Head Coach Anthony Stewart and supported by coaches Jacob Richards and Hollie Nash, the Academy provides expert coaching in a high-performance environment. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn from senior University Basketball League (UBL) players, adding a valuable mentoring component to the athlete experience.

Launching in July 2026, the UTAS Basketball Academy will provide athlete development and mentoring opportunities for male and female athletes aged Under 12 and above.

Delivered at the University of Tasmania, the Academy offers a high-quality development environment where participants can build their skills, grow in confidence, and connect with senior University Basketball League (UBL) players who serve as mentors and role models.

Combining skill development, performance support, and a strong sense of community, the Academy is designed to help young athletes improve their performance and prepare for future opportunities in basketball.
