| About Me | I am Emeritus Professor of Computer Science, self-employed and undertake IT consulting, short courses, speaking engagements and work as a glass artist. I was previously Foundation Professor of Computer Science, Chairman of the Department of Computer Science for most of 1974-1994, and Pro Vice-Chancellor 1994-99. I am also appointed as an Honorary Research Associate in the School and maintain an office on the Hobart campus. I supervise PhD students, and conduct my own research within the School, as well as contributing to its research culture. My current research interests centre around the impact of the Internet on scholarly publishing and open access to research, search engines, and research performance metrics. I also have secondary interests in high-performance computing, electoral processes, marine technology and mobile computing. Many of my recent research publications are available from the University?s ePrints repository. For information about my other life, see the personal website I share with my wife at www.ahjs.biz. |
