Every year, hundreds of international students from Vietnam make the journey across the world to start a new chapter at the University of Tasmania. For many, moving to Tasmania is both exciting and challenging - a chance to grow, explore and build a future while navigating life far from home.
At the heart of that sense of belonging is the Vietnamese Student Association Tasmania (ViSATAS), a student-led community that invites Vietnamese students and the wider community to connect, celebrate, and support each other.
Home away from home
Coming to a new country can feel overwhelming. ViSATAS gives students a welcoming network where they can make friends, ask questions, and share stories with others who understand the unique challenges of studying overseas. The association’s events help students feel connected from the moment they arrive.
Celebrating culture together
ViSATAS is known for its vibrant cultural events, which bring rich traditions to life in Tasmania. From Tết (Lunar New Year) celebrations to the Mid-Autumn Festival, members share food, music, and stories that deepen connections to Vietnamese heritage and invite the whole University of Tasmania community to join in.
Connections beyond campus
ViSATAS also supports members in building professional and academic networks. Through career-focused workshops, industry talks and networking events, students have opportunities to explore potential pathways, meet professionals and develop skills that matter for life after graduation.
