Visitor & short-term parking

Paid parking by the hour

Visitors to campus can access paid parking by the hour. In University-operated parking facilities, these zones are indicated by the use of blue on-ground markers.

You can pay for your parking using the EasyPark app.  It's free to use and available for download from the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android.

Don't have a compatible phone for EasyPark? You can still pay for parking at one of the voucher machines located on campus or by calling EasyPark and using their interactive voice response (IVR) service.

Visitor parking for the Inveresk campus and Hobart CBD sites is generally provided by paid parking facilities operated by the relevant local council.

Temporary permits, special permits and reserved spaces

Special permits

Some on-campus parking spaces are reserved for specific uses such as commercial vehicles, disability access parking, University service vehicle or School vehicle parking and are not available for general parking at certain, or all, times of the day.

Holders of these special permits must note all signs and park accordingly as changes or closure of spaces can happen at any time.

Temporary permits

Although visitors and volunteers are normally expected to access paid parking by the hour for the duration of their visit, some colleges, institutes or departments can issue a 'temporary parking permit'. Temporary permits are only for volunteers, visitors and/or guests (e.g. guest lecturers, consultants, clinic participants). ISD will provide temporary permits to colleges, institutes or departments upon request.

Temporary permits are only valid for use on the Sandy Bay, Newnham and West Park campuses and in staff parking bays (white on-ground markers) or reserved parking bays that are managed by the area issuing the temporary permit. It is the responsibility of the college/institute/division to ensure that visitors display the temporary parking permit when they park in 'reserved parking' bays.

Rental car temporary permits

Temporary permits issued as part of a short-term vehicle hire with the University's contracted provider are valid for use on the Sandy Bay, Newnham and West Park campuses only.
