About the Maritime Immersion Program

The Maritime Immersion Camp is 3 days of fun hands-on learning experiences for Tasmanian high school students in Years 9 - 12. The camp showcases careers and university study options in engineering, global logistics, and seafaring.

Students will spend 3 days at the Australian Maritime College in Launceston. The camp is jointly organised and supported by the Australian Maritime College and TasPorts.

At the camp, students drive boats on the Tamar River, take a practical survival at sea challenge, operate tug boats and 200m+ ships in immersive bridge simulators, design and test floating structure prototypes in an engineering challenge, plan a global shipping network in a logistics challenge, learn about autonomous vessels, meet experts and be inspired by current university students and researchers, and more.

As part of the camp, students will gain a deep understanding of the highly paid and in-demand career opportunities within the maritime industry and the specialist university degrees that can get them there.
