The Bachelor of Adult and Applied Learning provides an opportunity for TAFE teachers and workplace trainers to further develop their teaching capabilities, and to advance their career in settings such as TAFEs, private Registered Training Organisations (RTO) or government organisations.
Additionally, the course is suitable for experienced professionals in specialised areas such as construction, fabrication, cooking and hospitality who are seeking to become teachers and researchers in the VET sector, as well as Service personnel seeking a commission in training specialisations.

You’ll enter the course with a solid foundation, supported by your prior knowledge and relevant experience. As you progress, you’ll continue with work-based activities that strengthen your skills and confidence.
While employment during your studies isn’t required, it’s encouraged where possible and can enhance your learning through valuable hands-on experience.
This course is designed to support you in applying your studies to your existing workplace, training, or community context. You’ll continue to build on your experience throughout the course with ongoing work-based practice.
Although you don’t need to be employed to complete the course, having a workplace connection allows you to deepen your learning through practical application and real-world relevance.

Domestic applicants who have recently completed secondary education (in the past two years)
This course is not available to students who have recently completed secondary education.
Domestic applicants with higher education study
To be eligible for an offer, you must:
- have completed a course at Diploma level or higher at any Australian higher education provider (or an equivalent overseas qualification) in your intended teaching area; and
- have at least four years of industry experience in your intended teaching area
Domestic applicants with VET / TAFE study
To be eligible for an offer, you must
- have completed a Trade Certificate (Certificate III), AQF Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or an equivalent qualification) in your intended teaching area; and
- have at least four years of industry experience in your intended teaching area.
Domestic applicants with work and life experience
This course is not available to students who apply based on work and life experience
Students admitted to the course will receive 100 credit points, on the basis of prior learning and professional experience, equating to two 50 credit points Introductory units:
- EAL100 - Professional Knowledge and Skills
- EAL111 - Applied Professional Knowledge and Skills

Fees & scholarships
Domestic students
Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, this means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

HECS-HELP loans
