Introduction

Building on the skills and knowledge developed in first year units this unit will help you to consider student need as part of planning for learning that will ensure that all students can reach their full potential. You will examine approaches for planning, assessment, and feedback and establish connections to the theories underpinning them, as well as their applicability to professional practice. You will begin to develop the skills necessary to be assessment literate. That is, having knowledge about key concepts of assessment and how they might inform your decisions about assessment as part of your classroom planning. This knowledge will enable you to use assessment effectively, make judgments to improve student learning, and evaluate your own teaching.
