Introduction

Object Design is a project-based pathway unit developed for college students who have foundational skills and interests in design acquired through prior learning. Working within a year-long design theme, students engage in research, experimentation and iterative design processes to develop a creative response to a design brief. With the support of their teachers, students explore visual language through a range of design methods and media, which may include material-based practices, digital storytelling and emerging technologies such as virtual reality. 

  

Assessment tasks include a design pitch (AT1), a design proposition or object supported by a design journal and exhibition statement (AT2), and a design reflection (AT3). Completed works are presented in a group exhibition. University staff support learning and teaching through a symposium, college visits, specialist  mentoring and online resources.
