Introduction

This unit emphasises a comprehensive understanding of wellbeing in ageing, moving beyond traditional concepts of healthy ageing. You will explore the multifaceted dimensions of wellbeing for older people and engage with diverse ageing theories. The unit addresses the physiological and cognitive changes of ageing, the complexities of chronic illnesses, and highlights the significance of effective communication in gerontological care. By the conclusion of the unit, you will have increased understanding of evidence-based practice and be prepared   to advocate for the holistic wellbeing of older people and influence transformative practices in gerontological nursing.

Teaching Pattern

This unit is offered fully online via MyLO (my learning online). You are expected to devote around 10 hours per week to the study materials, assessment tasks and self-directed learning.
