Introduction
Evidence-based decision making is a crucial skill in many areas of employment. Just as critical is being able to quickly and accurately assimilate available evidence and form sound conclusions that can be articulated to a range of stakeholders. This unit will develop knowledge and skills that are oriented to a graduate looking to find employment in a field related to marine and Antarctic science. The pattern of teaching for the unit will include a mix of lectures, workshops, and interactions with professionals in relevant fields. The focus will be on developing student’s abilities to synthesise information from a range of sources and use that to build coherent plans for solving open issues in marine and Antarctic Science.
