Description: Students developed podcasts on selected health literacy topics to share with their peers and broader community. The focus of the activity was on understanding the value of health literacy and what it feels like to be literate about a topic of interest. Students identified key aspects of literacy such as accuracy, rate, expression and punctuation and how these aspects contributed to feeling 'fluent' in communicating their knowledge about their topics. Health topics for the podcasts included Anxiety, Sleep and Allergies. In displaying their work, they invited listeners to contribute what they learnt after listening to the podcasts on sticky notes.
Measures of Success: Students will identify key information about particular health topics; they will demonstrate fluency in communicating about their health topic; they will be able to identify what it feels like to be fluent in communicating about their topics.
