Health Literacy in the Community

Health literacy, or the ability to find and use information to promote and maintain good health and well-being, is most often focused on adults. However, research shows that we do most of our learning about how to be ‘healthy’ from our family, our community and during our school years.

HealthLit4Kids recognises that a one-size fits all approach seldom works to address health literacy. Long-term health outcomes are reliant on embedded, locally owned and co-designed programs which respond to local health needs.

HealthLit4Kids recognises the role of the community services sector in supporting health literacy in the community at large. Our research is aligned with several services in Tasmania with whom we share ideas, resources and information in inclusive and supportive ways.
