Study period key dates for 2026

We offer a range of study periods throughout the year, depending on when you begin your units.

Stay on top of important dates in your academic calendar, including orientation, study start dates, census dates, withdrawal deadlines, payment due dates, mid-semester breaks, the last day of your unit, study weeks, assessment and exam periods, and when your unit results are published.

Orientation is a key part of starting your university journey. Running the week before classes commence, you’ll connect with other students, explore your new learning environments, and learn about all the support services available to you.

Application dates

It's best to receive an offer early so you can prepare for orientation and the start of your semester/study period, so we recommend you apply as soon as you can. Be sure to check our application dates, which will help you submit your application to us.

Application dates

Standard study periods

Standard study periods include our main semesters 1 and 2, and the Trimester, and our intensive study periods in Summer, Winter, and Spring. Find your study period and important dates listed below.

Block study periods

Some units may utilise these new intensive 7-week study periods that align with the start and end dates of the 12-week Semesters.

  • Block 1 and Block 2 align with Semester 1
  • Block 3 and Block 4 align with Semester 2

You can view a visual representation of the full academic calendar to see how the block study periods align with the semesters.

Our other intensive study periods in Summer, Winter, and Spring are listed above in our standard study periods.

Course-specific study period variations

Some courses have dates that differ from the standard study periods. These variations are shown below.

*Payment dates

As a general rule, tuition fees and Student Services and Amenities fees are due 14 days prior to the census date for the study period. Refer to your invoice for details.

†What is a census date?

Census dates mark the point in a study period at which you become financially liable (responsible for the fees) for a unit. If you are eligible and have elected to defer fees to a HELP loan, it is also the date after which this debt is transferred to the ATO.
See 'What is a census date?' (AskUs) for more information.
