Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF)

A compulsory fee for student services and amenities of a non-academic nature such as employment and career advice, financial advice, childcare, food services and sporting and recreational activities.

These funds are allocated in consultation with elected students representatives from the Tasmanian University Student Association (TUSA) and students can submit feedback on the allocation of funds for 2022 in the Student Portal.

In accordance with the Higher Education Legislation Amendment (Student Services and Amenities) Act 2011 and the Administration Guidelines 2012 the University of Tasmania determined that a Student Services and Amenities Fee be introduced from Semester 2 2012.

SSAF 2023 and 2024

2023 - The maximum SSAF rate for 2023 is $326 (capped), part-time SSAF is $244.50 and each 12.5 credit point unit will attract a charge of $48.90.

2024 - The maximum SSAF rate for 2024 is $351 (capped), part-time SSAF is $263.25 and each 12.5 credit point unit will attract a charge of $52.65.

Cross-institutional Students

Domestic - if the student is cross-institutional domestic, they are charged SSAF and
are liable to pay the fee.

International - cross-institutional international students are not charged SSAF separately, this fee is included in the annual rate.

Domestic cross-institutional students cannot defer their SSAF (they can defer SSAF at the home institution), these fees must be paid upfront
