The Graduate Diploma of Midwifery is designed for registered nurses ready to advance their careers and become midwives. Grounded in the principles of woman-centred care, ethical practice and sustainability, the course equips you with the clinical skills, critical thinking and leadership capabilities needed to support women and families through pregnancy, birth and early parenting. Ethical practice is at the heart of midwifery. This course integrates the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) Code of Ethics throughout your learning, helping you develop a professional identity grounded in compassion, respect and moral responsibility.

The Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Specialisation) is delivered online on a part-time basis, enabling registered midwives to pursue advanced study while maintaining professional practice and personal responsibilities. Specialisations
The Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Specialisation) provides a structured pathway for midwives to consolidate and extend their expertise through five distinct areas of specialisation:
The Leadership in Practice specialisation prepares midwives to lead with purpose, authenticity, and impact in complex and evolving healthcare environments. Emphasis is placed on cultivating advanced leadership capabilities to influence policy, guide multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to organisational development within midwifery and broader health services.
This specialisation enables midwives to assume educational roles that strengthen the professional formation of future practitioners. Students will explore the internal and external factors shaping contemporary healthcare models while gaining hands on experience in the use of simulation to replicate and teach key aspects of midwifery and clinical practice.
The Quality and Safety specialisation fosters a deep understanding of evidence informed approaches to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management. Midwives will be equipped to evaluate, implement, and sustain best practices that enhance safety and service quality, ensuring excellence in midwifery care and maternity services.
This specialisation develops advanced knowledge and skills in caring for critically ill and vulnerable newborns. Designed for midwives, this specialisation advances expertise in promoting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of children and families.
