Overview
This scholarship is provided by a graduate in Medicine from the University of Tasmania who now works as a consulting paediatric cardiologist at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital which is a major paediatric hospital in Liverpool, England. Dr Joyce Lim graduated in 1996 with first class honours and subsequently received the Dr MG Ciezar Memorial Scholarship to allow her to undertake postgraduate training in the UK. She established this scholarship to support the next generation of medical students gain experience in the paediatrics area through practicals and placements in major children’s hospitals in the UK. This scholarship is to provide paediatric elective experience in a dedicated paediatric unit/paediatric hospital for aspiring paediatricians.
Eligibility
- For a University of Tasmania student eligible to undertake the elective at the end of their 4th year.
- Placement: Any approved paediatric facility in the United Kingdom.
- Additional support may be available if the student is successful in gaining a placement at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool.
- Applicants will be required to outline their interests in paediatrics and their expectations from an elective in the United Kingdom.
