Overview

The Leah Brown Indigenous Scholarship in Law was established to support an eligible Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander studying Law at the University of Tasmania.
The vision is to provide financial assistance to encourage and support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students in their study of the Law in the hope of helping develop legal capacity in the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and to help increase the number of indigenous legal practitioners.

Leah is the founder and managing partner of Marrawah Law – Australia’s first and most spectacularly successful Aboriginal law firm that specialises in Commercial and First Nations Law. Leah graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws in 2006 and was admitted to legal practice in 2007. After several years in Cairns with the North Queensland Land Council, Leah established Marrawah Law in Cairns in 2013. Over the past decade, the firm has grown nationally with offices now in Cairns, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Hobart.
