The Rhodes Scholarships are postgraduate awards supporting outstanding all-round students to study at the University of Oxford.
The Rhodes is the oldest and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship program in the world, which aims to nurture public-spirited leaders for the future.
The Rhodes Scholarships are open to students from all disciplines. Each year, there are nine Scholarships available in Australia (including one offered by each state). Successful candidates are chosen on the basis of exceptional intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service.
The scholarships cover all University and College fees, a personal stipend and one economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the Scholarship, as well as an economy flight back to the student's home country at the conclusion of the Scholarship.
Apply: Tasmanian Rhodes Scholarship applications are open from 1 June 2026 and close at 23:59 AEST on the 11 August 2026.
There will be an information session featuring recent Rhodes Scholars before applications open. Keep an eye on this page for more information.
Please review the information links below and contact the State Co-Secretaries, Rhys Edwards and Robert Hortle at rhodes.scholarship@utas.edu.au to discuss the application process.
