The Tasmanian School of Business and Economics (TSBE), formerly known as the Faculty of Business, is committed to extending the boundaries of business education. We aim to achieve this through close relationships with professional associations, other educational providers and universities, businesses, employers and government – across Australia and internationally. Our students can be found on three campuses – Sandy Bay in Hobart; Newnham in Launceston; and the Cradle Coast Campus in Burnie – both full-time and part-time. Students come from all over the world to study with us, including, but not limited to, China, Hong Kong, Germany, India, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United Kingdom.
We are proud to have a strong heritage, with 100 years of Economics at UTAS in 2014, Accounting and Corporate Governance education taught since 1919 and Management making a great contribution since 1992. The School is also associated with the Australian Innovation Research Centre, which aims to be an international driver of innovation policy research as well as the Australian Institute of Health Service Management, teaching and researching in this dynamic area. We have a team of staff recognised around the world for their excellence in teaching and research.
We provide flexible degree structures that allow students to design the degree they need for their future. Undergraduate students can complete more than one major of study, providing graduates with broad expertise that equips them to adapt to the rapidly changing global environment. Many also choose to participate in our Corporate Internships Programme, gaining valuable experience in the business world before they graduate. Postgraduate students benefit from our increasing range of expert qualifications, whether they are looking to change careers or progress to the next level, with many courses now also being offered by distance.
Our business programs are also presently offered in China and Hong Kong, where the University of Tasmania is very highly regarded.
We are proud of the employability of our graduates, and our alumni are now occupying senior positions in the private and public sector in Australia and overseas.
