The Bachelor of Education with Honours is a one-year full-time course (or part-time equivalent) designed for individuals with experience in educational contexts who are ready to deepen their understanding of teaching, learning, and education through research, while developing advanced, cross-disciplinary research skills.
This course welcomes applicants from a broad range of professional backgrounds - including schools, higher education, government, and non-government organisations. Whether you're working in policy, community education, training, or advocacy, this flexible and inclusive pathway offers a way to explore research in or about education.
Guided by a discipline-specific supervisor, you’ll undertake a self-directed research project tailored to your interests and aspirations. You’ll also join a diverse cohort of students from across the education sector, enriching your experience through collaborative dialogue and shared perspectives.
Designed with working professionals in mind, the course is delivered fully online and has no placement requirements, making it especially accessible for those balancing study with career commitments.
The Bachelor of Education with Honours provides a clear pathway to doctoral study (PhD or EdD) and serves as a strong foundation for careers in educational research, policy development, and advisory roles across both government and non-government settings.

Course structure
In Bachelor of Education with Honours you will complete 100 credit points comprising;
- 25 credit points of Core units
- 25 credit points of Core option units
- a 50 credit point research thesis
In your final semester, you will need to enrol in XSB400 which will record your final overall Honours result. This unit is administrative only and does not have classes or assessments.

Domestic students
Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, this means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

HECS-HELP loans
