What is work-integrated learning?
Definition: Students are situated in a workplace with supervision and/or assessment support from a workplace supervisor.
Examples: Internships, mandatory professional practicums, clinical placements, optional or paid student placements, local or international placements.
Definition: Students are in a workplace or field setting for a brief period of time and are not supervised or assessed by a workplace supervisor.
Examples: Applied research projects, design projects, industry site visits.
Definition: Students are supported to learn in class, led by academic staff, with embedded hands-on and practical experience opportunities.
Examples: Guest lectures, simulations, on-campus practical workshops.

Electives are units that you can choose to study as part of your course from another area of study, adding variety to your area. You just need elective spaces on your study plan, to meet any unit prerequisites, and the unit is listed as being available as an elective.
