Bachelor of Nursing with Honours (H4A)

• 1 Formulate and justify a significant, theoretically informed nursing research problem and research question(s) grounded in a rigorous analysis of the literature and context.
• 2 Design and implement, an ethically sound and feasible methodology and analysis plan appropriate to the research question(s), demonstrating methodological rigour, transparency and governance compliance.
• 3 Appraise theoretical and empirical evidence to position the study and to interpret findings within the broader nursing knowledge base.
• 4 Generate, analyse, and interpret data to produce credible, trustworthy findings, articulating limitations and the implications of methodological choices.
• 5 Articulate and justify the implications of the research for nursing practice, policy, and/or education, and identify defensible directions for further research.
• 6 Communicate the research coherently for academic and professional audiences—via a thesis—adhering to scholarly conventions, and engage constructively with the scholarly community through feedback, presentation, and revision.

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification (AQF7 or above) from this or another institution.
Applicants are normally expected to have obtained a GPA of at least 5.0 in their year 3 level or postgraduate units.  
Meeting minimum entrance requirements does not guarantee entry to the Bachelor of Nursing with Honours as all offers are subject to supervisor and project availability.
Applicants must discuss their intended research topic and method with the course coordinator to ensure it aligns with the Health research strategy and the School has the required supervision expertise and resources. 

Admission to Honours courses at the University of Tasmania require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree. Applicants must achieve credit average (GPA 5.0/7.0) in their qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and the English language requirements (as below) to be eligible for an offer. Admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.

English Language Requirements  

For students who do not meet the English Language Requirement through citizenship or prior studies in English in an approved country, evidence of an approved English language test completed within the last 2 years must be provided.

• Minimum English Language test Score requirement based on the following approved English language tests are: 

• IELTS (Academic)  7.0 (no individual band less than 7.0) 

• TOEFL (iBT) 100 (no skill below: Reading 25; Listening 25; Speaking 23; Writing 27) 

• PTE Academic 65 with no score lower than 65
