The School of Economics & Finance is highly regarded for the quality of its teaching & research: building an impressive record in national competitive research grants & in attracting some outstanding students. The School offers training in BEc, BEc(Hons), Business Economics & Finance in both the BEc and BBus, along with an active PhD program.
Further developing recent investments by the School of Economics and Finance in creating in 2010 the UTAS Experimental Economics Laboratory. It will substantially increase the operations and research outputs of the Laboratory, creating the leading research institution in Australia in the application of experimental economics to natural resources and the environment.
This project aims at significantly advancing understanding of the transmission of financial crises through a combination of research tools on measuring crises with new developments in high frequency financial econometrics across a multiyear research plan.
