International Women in Maritime Engineering Scholarship

There has never been a better time for women to take up exciting careers in one of engineering's most challenging and rewarding fields - Maritime Engineering. To increase female participation in maritime engineering programmes, the National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics (NCMEH), Australia's premier maritime engineering facility at the University of Tasmania's specialist institute, the Australian Maritime College (AMC), is offering great scholarships to young women. Areas of study include Marine and Offshore Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Maritime Design.

Eligibility

Undergraduate - Scholarships will be awarded to international female students who are eligible to commence one of the following programs in semester 1, 2018:

Postgraduate - Scholarships will be awarded to international female students who are eligible to commence the Master of Engineering (Maritime Design) 2 year program in semester 1 or 2. Not available to applicants entering with advanced standing.

Value

Undergraduate 75% of the first year of the on-campus accommodation costs at one of the Halls of Residence in Launceston.

Postgraduate -& 100% of the first semester of the on-campus accommodation costs at one of the Halls of Residence in Launceston.

To be eligible, students must apply for accommodation with University of Tasmania Accommodation Services and cover the application fee and bond.

Health Relocation Bursaries

Receive a Health relocation bursary to the value of AU$3,000 when you enroll in one of the following courses for Semester 2, 2017 and Semester 1 and 2018.

Semester 2, 2017 intake:

The bursary is valued at $3,000 for one year of full-time study at the University of Tasmania.

Eligibility

Students must be commencing Year 1 of their Bachelor of Health Science (Specialisation) or Bachelor of Laboratory Medicine course and must be enrolled in a full-time load, equating to a minimum of four 12.5% units per semester post-census date to receive payment of the bursary.

For Semester 2 commencing students, to be eligible for the first payment, students must be enrolled past the semester 2, 2017 census date. To be eligible for the second and final payment, students must have successfully completed semester 2, 2017 of their course and be enrolled past census date for semester 1, 2018 otherwise they will not receive their second and final payment.

If a student has already accepted a scholarship from the University (e.g. the Tasmanian International Scholarship) they are not eligible to receive the Health relocation bursary.

Bursary Payments

The bursary will be paid in two equal amounts ($1,500) directly into the student's nominated bank account the first week after census date in Semester 1 and Semester 2 respectively.

Students who commence their degree in Semester 1, 2017

  • first $1,500 payment is scheduled for 7 April 2017
  • second and final $1,500 payment is scheduled for 18 August 2017

Students who commence their degree in Semester 2, 2017

  • first $1,500 payment is scheduled for 18 August 2017
  • second and final $1,500 payment is scheduled for 30 March 2018

Pharmacy Relocation Bursaries

International students may be eligible for a Pharmacy relocation bursary (valued up to $3,000), if commencing studies in the Master of Pharmaceutical Science (M7E) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (M3F & M3I) in 2017 or 2018.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive the Pharmacy relocation bursary, students must be enrolled onshore in a full-time load per semester (e.g. 4 x 12.5% units or equiv) post-census date for the first semester in which you commence studies (either semester 1 or semester 2).

Students completing an English Language UTASAccess-Direct Entry program at the University of Tasmania directly prior to commencing their pharmacy program will in addition to the Pharmacy Relocation Bursary, also be eligible to receive a reimbursement of up to A$3,500 for their English language fees (excl FSP graduates or TIS recipients). The relocation bursary is not available to students completing the Foundation Studies Program or packaged combined degrees or Faculty of Arts programs as pathways into non-Faculty degrees.

Students who have been awarded the Tasmanian International Scholarship will not be eligible to qualify for the relocations bursary.

Bursary Payment

The bursary will be paid directly into the student's nominated bank account the first week after census date in the first semester of enrolment.

  • payment is scheduled for 18 August 2017
