The capstone project unit provides an opportunity for students to consolidate the knowledge and skills they have acquired in their course and apply them to a substantial ICT project. Students extend their knowledge and skills in the areas of project management and system development through completing professional project documentation and managing the development of the team project using the agile methodology.

These projects have been developed over the course of one semester. Students work in teams with an industry client.

If you are interested in being a client in future semesters, please contact Ming.Wong@utas.edu.au

Data Harmonisation Evaluation Dashboard

Srabanty Deb, Promit Das Midul, Paritosh Upadhyay, Mayur Borkar, Kanchan Karki, Bhuiyan Mohiuddin Rabbi

Tasmanian Leaders has collected survey data across different programs, cohorts and years. Over time, differences in survey wording, response scales and file structures can make the data difficult to compare and reuse.  Our project focuses on harmonising this historical survey data into a consistent format. The process includes identifying related survey questions, standardising response scales, checking data quality and preparing harmonised datasets that can be used for later analysis.

We are using JavaScript to automate parts of the process and reduce repetitive manual work. The harmonised data produced by our team will support a separate project group that is developing the dashboard platform for Tasmanian Leaders.  The aim of our project is to make the client’s historical survey data more consistent, reusable and ready for future reporting and analysis.

The result is an interactive dashboard that gives leaders a clear view of where they stand and what to try first, without needing technical AI expertise to understand it.

The resource hub is the other section, where pdf, image and video resource are stored locally on the device that can be accessed at any time, anywhere. This is crucially important for volunteers completing missions in regional conditions with varied levels of internet connection. Veterans Phone is an Android-based mobile launcher designed to support digital inclusion for Australian veterans by providing a simpler, safer and more trusted way to access everyday digital services.
