Four University of Tasmania students have taken out top honours at the TasNetworks x UTAS x AWS Hackathon, developing a winning solution to a real-world energy challenge.
Brian Taylor, Hosna Ara Begum, Ngoc Tuan Cao and Jannat Un Nayeem Iqra were named the winning team after impressing judges with their concept and delivery.
Their project rose to the top in a competitive field, with 50 students working in teams to tackle live challenges set by TasNetworks.
Professor Nicole Herbert, Head of the University of Tasmania’s School of Information and Communication Technology, said the result showed what students can do when learning meets real industry need.
“Hackathons like this help students turn STEM learning into real capability,” Professor Herbert said.
As part of their win, the team will be offered paid internship opportunities with TasNetworks, creating a direct pathway from study into industry.
