The Plimsoll Gallery acknowledge the palawa/pakana people upon whose lands the University of Tasmania stands.
The Plimsoll Gallery is located on Hobart's historic waterfront, a short walk from the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), Salamanca Place and the city centre. The Plimsoll showcases touring and curated exhibitions of innovative local, national and international contemporary art and design, in addition to the work of the School of Creative Arts and Media, Research Higher Degree and Honours examinations. students.
The Plimsoll Gallery is the University’s showcase gallery and one of the key not-for-profit contemporary art venues in Hobart’s cultural precinct and in Tasmania. The gallery’s mission is to position Tasmanian contemporary art and design within the broader national and international context, auspice aligned discourse and activate community engagement.
