

International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
IELTS is designed to assess the language ability of people who need to study or work where English is the language of communication. It covers the four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking. Recognised by over 11,000 organisations worldwide it is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. More than three million tests were conducted in the past year. UTAS offers a paper-based test offered at Sandy Bay and Newnham campuses.


Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)
The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is trusted by universities, colleges and governments around the world. It is a computer-based and computer-marked test offered at the Sandy Bay campus. All four language skills are tested in the computer room. Testing dates are flexible and results are typically delivered within 5 business days. UTAS will commence PTE Academic exams towards the end of July. Applications will open then.


Occupational English Test (OET)
OET is a healthcare-specific English language test. It assesses the language proficiency of healthcare professionals seeking to register and practise in an English-speaking environment. OET tests international health practitioners from the following 12 professions: Nursing, Medicine, Radiography, Veterinary, Physiotherapy, Dental, Podiatry, Optometry, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Speech Pathology, Pharmacy. It is delivered as a paper-based test and is offered at the Newnham campus.
