Our governance instruments framework provides guidance and accountability in decision-making under the University of Tasmania Act 1992, our governing Act.

The University's by-laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures are automated through systems wherever possible.

All of our instruments are consistent with legislation and other compliance and regulatory requirements.

Instruments

University of Tasmania Act 1992
An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to the University of Tasmania
Ordinances
Legislative, enforceable. Prescribe and regulate requirements to effect the Act. May provide for sub-delegation of powers and impose penalties for non-compliance.
By-laws
Legislative, enforceable. Manage and control the University land and govern traffic. May impose penalties for non-compliance.
Policies
Statements of principles to guide behaviour and decision making at the University to achieve outcomes.
Procedures
Explanation of how something is achieved or executed consistent with policy and compliance requirements.
