The ASEAN Science and Technology Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is offered by the College of Sciences and Engineering to encourage high performing international students from ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam) to study science and technology-based courses at the University of Tasmania, commencing study in Semester 1 or 2, 2020.
The College of Sciences and Engineering is made up of a wide range of teaching and research areas, each delivering exciting study options and world-class research.
The College capitalises on the distinctive culture and ecology of Tasmania’s island laboratory, bringing together expertise in architecture and design, information and communication technology, physical and human geography, and surveying and spatial sciences. Sustainable regional development, urban livability, Earth observations, and habitat conservation are some of our core focus areas.
Available to high achieving international students from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam who have an offer of a full-time place in one of the following eligible onshore undergraduate degrees commencing in Semester 1 or 2, 2020.
- Civil, Electronics & Communications, Electrical & Electronics, Electrical Power, and Mechanical
- Naval architecture, Ocean engineering, Marine and Offshore engineering

Note: applicants who are not eligible for an ASEAN Science and Technology Undergraduate Merit Scholarship will be automatically assessed for a Tasmanian International Scholarship (TIS), which offers a 25% reduction of tuition fees. Applicants not eligible for TIS will automatically receive an ASEAN Careers in Science and Technology Award, which is valued at a 10% reduction of tuition fees for the duration of your course.
To maintain this scholarship, students are required to achieve a minimum Credit 5.0/7.0 result in all CoSE units at the end of each semester.
Each scholarship covers 50% of registered tuition fees (includes Students Services and Amenities Fees) for the duration of the course.
Students are assessed automatically for the ASEAN Science &Technology Undergraduate Merit Scholarship upon submission of their International Student Application, there is no need to submit a separate scholarship application.
