UTAS COVID-19 Safety Plan

The University must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers and other people. This includes having measures in place to eliminate or manage the risks arising from COVID-19.

Safe Work Australia has introduced new regulations regarding COVID-19 which the University must comply with to keep our staff and students safe from Coronavirus.

The new Regulations outline the Minimum Standards required by all businesses to manage the risks of COVID-19 in the workplace. This involves having a COVID-Safety Plan (PPTX 2.7 MB) in place.

The UTAS COVID-Safety Plan (PPTX 2.7 MB) outlines the identified risks, control measures that provides how the University will resume normal business operations.

By identifying the relevant known risks and identifying and implementing effective controls, the University can demonstrate compliance with the WHS Act (2012) and Safe Work Australia COVID-19 requirements.

This plan needs to be in place by the 15 June 2020

Staged return to campus

The University has set out its response measures for the 3-stages of return to campus and at each stage the University must satisfy these minimum standards.

A comprehensive guide has been prepared on 3-stage return to campus, temporary building closures, building openings and on-campus health screening guide.

It provides information on how we can help the University of Tasmania to continue to operate in a way that keeps people as safe as possible.

Visit Safety and Wellbeing for further information

Operations resume on Monday 29th June 2020

Strict hygiene and social distancing applies at all stages.

Transition to each stage is subject to Government approval and Public Health advice.
