Menzies Institute public talks take a close look at cancer

The Menzies Institute for Medical Research will hold public talks in Burnie and Launceston early in June.

This year’s topic is ‘Cancer – A Disease of the Genes,’ with Menzies researchers Associate Professor Jo Dickinson and Dr Liesel FitzGerald, and Ms Raylene Cox from the Cancer Council Tasmania.

The talks will examine how genes determine how our body looks, how it works, how we respond to our environment, what diseases we are likely to get and how well we respond to treatments.

Information on Cancer Council support services will also be available.

Talks will be held in Burnie on June 5 and in Launceston on June 6, at 6pm.
