Meet Darren Sangwell

Darren is a trained director, teacher, actor and singer with formal training from UTAS and NIDA. He holds a DipMus, BMusic, BTeach and Masters of Creative Arts (MCA) in Theatrical Direction. He currently teaches at Rosny College, is an Errol Award nominee and Hardie Fellow.
Darren is a versatile performer and has undertaken a wide range of theatre productions, concerts, cabarets and major events. Highlights include Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, and Grease and his one-man cabaret Darren and Friend. He tours Australia as Elwood in The Blues Brothers Revival Band. He is an AMEB Examiner, eisteddfod adjudicator, Drama Tas committee member and is a life member of The Old Nick Company. His directing credits are varied, including the Tasmanian premieres of Cats, Rent, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Wedding Singer, 9 to 5, and other pieces of music theatre, plays, operas and devised works.
