David performs throughout Australia as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. He has been a featured recitalist at the Darwin International Guitar Festival and has performed with the Adelaide, Tasmanian and Canberra Symphony Orchestras, the Northern Sinfonia of England and the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra. He has premiered many new works for guitar by Australian composers and in 2007 he was awarded an Australian Classical Music Award for his CD Fretsongs on the Tall Poppies label. A committed educator, David has been artist in residence at the Sydney Guitar Summer School and has given masterclasses at the University of Melbourne and the Victorian College of the Arts. For many years he coordinated both the classical and contemporary guitar programs at the University of Tasmania and continues to teach in private practice and at the UTAS Conservatorium of Music.
