2023 exam dates and news

Not much actually. The changes we made last year were, largely, very successful so we've just tweaked the edges a little to adjust for public and school holidays.

While we continue to roll with the punches that this pandemic throws at us, all exam planning comes with the usual caveats that restrictions continue to allow us to hold face-to-face exams. Should that change, we'll make sure you know what's going on and what options are available to you. That being said, if you don't feel comfortable to (or simply are unable) attend an exam centre in person for any reason, Video Exams (formerly Recorded Exams) will be available across all sessions.

CLOSING DATES
The large sessions need quite a bit of lead time both in order to get them scheduled and also to provide you with at least 4 weeks' notice. However, for the smaller sessions, we've kept the closing dates as late as possible, based on your feedback.
Closing dates are also staying on Mondays (or the next working day) but SCORE has a new feature that we're trialling this year: Late Closing Date. This gives you an extra week to put your enrolments through SCORE. We'll already be scheduling so we'll check in regularly for those late enrolments and manually keep popping them into exam days. For this reason, the usual late fee will automatically apply when you enrol during this period. So, our best advice is to work toward the advertised closing date anyway.

SESSION 1
The term dates have pushed this weekend back into March again but that seemed to be a good thing from the enquiries we were receiving late last year. We've also introduced Strings (Hobart only) to this session. Thanks so much to our community of teachers who let us know that this would be handy - we're looking forward to seeing you soon!
The new SCORE system now has the capability to set up this session to take enrolments from any AMusA Candidate so you no longer need to contact the office to enrol - just hop onto SCORE!

SESSION 2
After a couple of years  of disruptions to this session, it's back to what we hope will be the regular format, slotting in just ahead of the school holidays.

SESSION 3
This special session was very well received last year and the resounding response was that you'd love to have this session again. No worries! The Burnie piano session will include all grades from P Plate Piano up to Certificate of Performance. Exams are held in a private venue so, if you're interested in enrolling, please reach out so that we can check in with the host before taking your enrolment.

SESSION 4
No real changes here.
AMusA Candidates can now enrol directly in SCORE without having to contact the office to enrol.

SESSION 5
The prioritisation of TCE students in the final week of this session worked really well last year so we'll continue to offer that. If you're a TCE student and want your exam scheduled in the final week, be sure to note in your enrolment so that we don't pop you in another time.

VIDEO EXAMS OUT OF SESSION
If you have a cohort of students wanting to do a Video Exam, please get in touch. We might be able to organise an extra date just for you. Minimum numbers will be required and this will be subject to our capacity to support you at the time.
Please note that Diplomas are no longer available as Recorded Exams.

THEORY EXAMS
Paper-based Theory Exams will remain available for Diploma exams and Theory of Music syllabus only. All others are now available as Online Exams.

PERFORMANCE ARTS AWARDS
The Examiner comes to you! You can now enrol directly into SCORE and we'll work with you to schedule the exams at a time that suits you. Please get in touch if you have any questions. We can't wait to see your crew at their PAA exam soon!
