Focus: Classroom teaching.
Artform: Any performing arts specialty.
Qualification: Certificate
Perfect for: Classroom assistants and anyone considering a career in teaching.
You'll work through three units covering the topics of: Safe Teaching; Planning Learning; and Facilitating Learning. All material is submitted digitally and includes tasks such as explanations of your role, discussions of teaching techniques, videos of you teaching, and reflections on your own strengths and areas for development. The focus is extremely flexible and you can use work you're already doing as the basis for your development.

Focus: Performance
Artform: Any performing arts specialty (that's available as a Rockschool/PAA Syllabus to Grade 8).
Qualification: AssocRSL and LRSL (Performing)
Performance length: 30 minutes / 45 minutes.
Perfect for: Performers who are keen to gain extension beyond Grade 8 and follow vocational pathways.
You'll prepare a performance program based on a theme of your choice. Your theme provides your performance program with cohesion and serves as a focus that you can explore through the material. To accompany your performance, you'll produce programme notes and an evaluation of your learning journey.

Focus: Teaching
Artform: Any performing arts specialty (that's available as a Rockschool/PAA Syllabus to Grade 8).
Qualification: DipRSL (Level 4) and LPRSL (Level 6).
Perfect for: Teachers, both emerging and established, of a performing arts discipline.
Prerequisites: None but you must be 18 or older at the time of certification. While it's not compulsory, there are some expected performances standards - consult the Syllabus for full details.
These Diplomas are designed to expand your knowledge and recognise your expertise. The industry-relevant content will take you through the learning process, which is at the heart of teaching. You'll develop your ability to plan and facilitate learning, and create inspiring and motivating lessons which will engage and encourage students of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The core units cover:
- understanding learning,
- safe teaching, planning,
- planning, facilitating, and evaluating learning, and
- assessment.
How difficult are the exams?
As a guide, "Level 4" is the equivalent to first year university study. Similarly, "Level 6" standard is approximately equal to the final year of undergraduate degree.
What prerequisites are there?
None! However it's important to note that most syllabuses do include the expectation of prior knowledge and technical proficiency covered in previous grades.
What can I specialise in?
Basically any Rockschool Syllabus, including all PAA specialties, too! Some areas may have fewer options but you can absolutely take your craft to the next level with these Rockschool pathways.
Can I get TCE bonus points for a Rockschool Certificate or Diploma?
Yes you can! And that goes for any AMEB exam, including all specialties across Rockschool and PAA syllabuses.
When can I do a Rockschool Certificate or Diploma exam?
