Join celebrated piano clinician Lisa Bastien (Kjos, USA) in either Hobart or Launceston as she shares her time-tested teaching, technique, and motivating technology tips for beginning piano students! In this exciting session, Lisa will offer practical ideas for laying a strong foundation right from the very first lesson, fostering solid practice habits and encouraging parental involvement at home.

Lisa Bastien has been playing piano since she was four years old, learning from her mother, Jane Smisor Bastien, continuing a line of passionate piano pedagogues. Lisa studied music at Drake University and Arizona State University, completing her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Master's in piano pedagogy (respectively) . She then moved to New Orleans and worked at Loyola University, helping young students discover their musical talents.
Lisa comes from a family of piano experts who have authored hundreds of publications that have helped millions of people around the world learn how to play piano. Lisa and her husband Basil Hanss now live in New York City, where Lisa teaches piano to students of all ages, levels, and interests. Lisa loves teaching piano, and she always finds new ways to make it fun and exciting for her students.

Andrew is AMEB's very own Theory Specialist and holds over twenty years of music pedagogy, theory, and teaching experience. He brings this expertise to the production of written and aural components for all AMEB Theory of Music, Musicianship, and Music Craft exams. He's also the genius behind the AMEB Online Theory Courses and Online Theory Exams, available through SCORE.
Outside of his day job, Andrew is a musician based in Melbourne, Australia. He established Gloriana Chamber Choir in 1994, which started out as a sixteen-voice ensemble specialising in the performance of Renaissance polyphony. The choir soon expanded its numbers along with its repertoire to now include Bach motets, requiems, and a capella works, performing numerous Australian premieres in both Australia and abroad.
As well as working with Gloriana, Andrew has been a regular conductor and performer with choirs ranging from school groups to the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Society and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus.
