Teachers are amazing and are the keys to development for our younger generation. They fuel the passion and enthusiasm of their learners, sharing invaluable experience. Teachers nurture a love of the performing arts, shaping learners' abilities as performers, and the empathy they take forward in their own lives.
There are many challenges facing teachers, despite incredible commitment and passion. How can I better manage my energy levels through the hours of teaching? What resources are out there to support my teaching strategies and the needs of my students? Join us for a day of inspiration and resourcing. We'll be sharing ideas on how to keep your own cup full, and where you can find support to maximise your teaching efforts.
Registration is FREE but ESSENTIAL.
Register by the due date (Sun 8 Mar), and attend on the day to go into the draw for a fantastic door prize, valued at almost $1,000!

Who is this event for? Teachers!
You don't need to be an AMEB teacher, or even focus on exams with your students. This event will include some information about what AMEB has to offer in terms of resources for teachers but ultimately, we just want to energise and support teachers for the year ahead. Oh, and non-teachers are absolutely welcome, too!
Please let us know about your dietary needs and access requirements in your registration. We'll also ask which sessions you plan to attend so that we can best cater the information to the people in the room.

Piano Series 19 Launch
Join Angela Turner as she guides an exploration of the new Piano Series.
She'll explore tradition and innovation that goes into the development of new Grade books, share the connections that guide teachers, and how to get the most out of the material. Join us to deepen your teaching skills and gain fresh insights as we explore the new AMEB Piano Series 19 repertoie and handbooks.
Meet Angela Turner
Angela Turner enjoys a multifaceted career as pianist and lecturer. Broadcast on Australian radio as soloist and chamber musician, Angela has performed extensively throughout Australia, and the UK, Canada and Taiwan. In recent years, highlights have included recordings and performances in the 4MBS Festival of Classics, Kawai Keyboard Series, Australian Piano Duo Festival, QSO Chamber Series, for Musica Viva (QLD and NSW), and broadcasts on ABC Classic FM, 3MBS, 4MBS and 5MBS. Angela currently enjoys a focus upon chamber music, most notably with the Lyrebird Trio, who were winners of the piano trio and audience prizes at the 2013 Asia-Pacific Chamber Music Competition. Recent engagements have included appearances at the Melbourne Recital Centre, Sydney Opera House, Ukaria Cultural Centre (SA), and the Tyalgum (NSW), Mackay (QLD), Coriole (SA) and Port Fairy Spring Music Festivals (VIC). The Lyrebird Trio were 2014 and 2015 Winter Musicians-in-Residence at Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada, and were Ensemble-in-Residence at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Angela has been on staff at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University since 1998. She currently teaches piano at tertiary and pre-tertiary levels, and is head of the Intermediate Piano Program at the Young Conservatorium. Since 2022, Angela has also lectured in piano at the University of Queensland's School of Music. Angela is an AMEB Keyboard Examiner in Queensland. She is currently the national AMEB Principal Keyboard Syllabus Consultant which involved her making the selections and editing the Grade books for the newly released Piano Series 19. Angela previously worked upon on repertoire selections for Level 1 of Piano Series 18, Piano Syllabus Manual Lists and duet selections for the Collaborative Piano Syllabus. A sought-after adjudicator and presenter around Australia, Angela is series editor for Hal Leonard, with four volumes in the "Exploring Piano" series currently available.
A graduate and Conservatorium medallist of the Conservatorium, Angela completed her Master of Music on exchange at the Royal College of Music, London. During her studies with Joyce Bennett, Natasha Vlassenko and Yonty Solomon, Angela was the recipient of prestigious national academic and performance awards, including a Westpac Award, Florence Davey Pianoforte Scholarship, Australian Postgraduate Award, Griffith Doctoral Scholarship, a three-time winner of the Queensland Piano Competition, 4MBS Chamber Music Prize, Royal Music Schools Association Prize for Accompaniment, amongst many others.
Her CD recording with Stephen Emmerson, Brieley Cutting and Stewart Kelly, in a two piano transcription of Mahler's Symphony No.2 "Resurrection" was released to international critical acclaim on Melba Recordings. Lyrebird Trio's long-awaited debut recording features works by Nigel Westlake, Beethoven and Smetana, and was released on the Master Performers label in January 2016.
Why do you teach?
As an experimental musician who straddles and combines many disciplines, Emily has built her career by focussing her energies where they matter most: the things that align to her values and the aspects of her craft that bring her joy. But it hasn't been an easy journey. She'll share her tips for exploring WHY we do what we do to help us identify the factors that drive us to turn up every day with abundant enthusiasm. This is the "why" behind what we do and we need to understand that before we can consciously make daily decisions that keep us on the path that will bring us the rewards we seek.How do you teach?
Emily's career as a musician is complemented by her work as an Occupational Therapist. It's through this role that she spruiks the importance of good posture and how workspaces can either amplify or hinder. In this workshop, Emily will guide a conversation about how we physically set ourselves up for success before we even approach our instrument.Meet Emily Sanzaro
Emily is an innovative contemporary harpist, vocalist, violinist & electronic loop artist based in Launceston, Tasmania. Emily is also a registered Occupational Therapist specialising in workplace ergonomics and functional creative practice for people engaging with the arts.
Emily performs across a wide range of musical genres, embracing the full versatility of the harp. She delights in subverting expectations—venturing well beyond the traditional harp repertoire while still weaving in touches of the familiar. Her work spans original compositions, contemporary arrangements with a twist, and experimental improvisations. Unconfined by genre, Emily moves fluidly between jazz, Celtic traditional, classical and contemporary influences, inviting audiences to arrive with an open mind and leave their assumptions at the door.
Emily is a versatile performer, with experience in numerous solo and collaborative performance contexts within Tasmania and beyond. Emily has completed 3 solo residencies at MONA (Museum of Old and New Art), has performed by invitation at TedXHobart and released her debut album of original music in 2021 to 5 sold out shows at MONA FOMA festival in 2022. Emily is a regular collaborator with Tasdance, has been a member of MONA’s core ‘music cluster’ ensemble since 2020 and has worked with other musicians from a range of genres including jazz and pop. Emily embarked on her first tour in 2025 with the support of Carter Harps Australia and Arts Tasmania and during 2026 will perform and present at the World Harp Congress in Toronto.

What's available for your students
Students come in a range of different shapes and sizes and some resources work well with many but not with others.But what can you use when something doesn't click? Fiona will explore the variety of resources that exist so you can work smarter, not harder.
Interested in further PD, perhaps with the new AMEB Teaching exams? While this content isn't taken directly from the Syllabus, it supports and aligns with its methodologies and is an approach you can take to achieving your PD goals.
Meet Fiona Seers
Fiona is an experienced Arts Administrator who has worked in the performing arts sector for organisations such as The Academy of Ancient Music (UK), Dance Works, Opera Australia and various choirs. She has also worked as an instrumental music teacher at numerous schools, teaching piano, winds and theory. Fiona has a Bachelor of Music, a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and an AMEB Associate in Music, Australia (AMusA) in piano.
Fiona is an active member of the arts community and has held Director positions on various arts company Boards, including a recent tenure as Chair of Weave Movement Theatre. She is Head of Examining for our AMEB Federal office and will be Acting State Manager while Michelle is on leave.
