It’s not every day you get to hear from someone whose work is used by 250 million people worldwide, and even rarer when that person happens to live locally. In late October 2025, we were exceptionally fortunate to host a Q&A with Cameron Adams, Co-Founder of $25b creative tech unicorn, Canva.
Cameron and his wife Lisa (Founder of nature-focused investment company, Wedgetail) are exceptional philanthropists. Their 7,000-hectare conservation property, The Quoin, in the Tasmanian Midlands, partners with the University of Tasmania to advance biodiversity research, and they’ve formally pledged to give away half of their fortune.
InVent, the UTAS research commercialisation team, co-hosted the event with the Launceston Institute. It was wonderful to see researchers, students, staff, alumni and industry all together on the beautifully refurbished Inveresk campus in Northern Tasmania.
