Learning outcomes
The Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (ADF Conversion) will enable students to:
- Demonstrate an adaptive, flexible and self-directed commitment to the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health and to the delivery of primary health care across the lifespan.
- Function, build and sustain collaborative, professional relationships as a member of a team within multidisciplinary teams and agencies
- Employ critical, analytical and reflective abilities within paramedic practice, understanding the importance of lifelong learning within the profession.
- Incorporate their understanding of contemporary local and national healthcare priorities, including integrated care models, mental health reforms, quality and safety management in paramedic practice.
- Demonstrate the knowledge, understanding and skills required for competent practice in a range of paramedic practice contexts as documented in the National Competency Standards for the Paramedic.
- Provide patient-centred care as applicable to current evidence-based practice in a diverse range of patient presentations and events.
- Demonstrates professional autonomy and accountability whilst acting in accordance with accepted standards of conduct and performance of a paramedic and practices within the legal and ethical boundaries of the paramedic profession
- Employ a range of technologies to enhance paramedic professional development and support the health care they are providing
Practical experience
Students will undertake clinical placements within their operational environments, hospitals and ambulance services as required within the unit CAA303 Clinical Practice 5
Career outcomes
This course is a negotiated program of study with the ADF which will allow students to progress to a higher clinical level within their employment. Initially this course will be offered to the Australian Navy, where graduates will be able to progress from advanced medic to clinical manager.
Professional Recognition
There is no current national regulatory framework for paramedics, graduates will be eligible for admission as members of the professional bodies, Paramedics Australasia and the Australian and New Zealand College of Paramedicine.

Entry requirements
Entry Requirements
Entry into this course is restricted to those applicants that have been nominated by a branch of the Australian Defence Forces. Applicants are required to hold either the Diploma of Paramedical Sciences (Ambulance), or an ADF Advanced Medic qualification (or equivalent)This course is open to Australian domestic students only.
Articulation from
This course provides an articulation pathway for holders of a TAFE Diploma in Paramedical Sciences (Ambulance).
Articulation to
This course articulates with the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice [53A]. On successful completion of this course graduates will be eligible for entry into the following courses:
- Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (Honours)
- Bachelor of Advanced Paramedicine (Specialisation)
- Master of Advanced Paramedicine (Specialisation)

Fees & scholarships
Domestic students
Domestic students enrolled in a full fee paying place are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the fees you pay for each unit you enrol in. Full fee paying domestic students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.
