It’s a very good program the University of Tasmania offers, that flexibility is really useful for people who have busy work schedules. Pharmacy practice is changing all the time. Pharmacists are becoming more involved in day to day management of complex diseases including:

  • working as clinical consultants managing drug therapy regimens
  • providing leadership in clinical trials and research in pharmaceutical industry and healthcare organisations
  • providing professional clinical services within community pharmacy settings

Within Australia and overseas, the Master of Clinical Pharmacy is often considered preferable for senior clinical positions.

Students will complete 150 credit points comprised of:

  • 25 credit points core units
  • 75 credit points core option units
  • 50 credit points research /capstone units

Entry requirements

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

An AQF 7 or above Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy from an Australian Pharmacy Council APC accredited undergraduate program from UTAS or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent.

Evidence of current AHPRA registration under the General Registration Type for the profession of Pharmacist, without conditions or notations, or equivalent evidence of registration in another country. AHPRA registrations will be confirmed and applicants with conditions or notations will be referred to the School for review.

To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:

An AQF 7 or above Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy from an Australian Pharmacy Council APC accredited undergraduate program or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent.

Evidence of current AHPRA registration under the General Registration Type for the profession of Pharmacist, without conditions or notations, or equivalent evidence of registration in another country. 

International applicants are required to meet the English Language test requirement of IELTS 7.0 with no individual band less than 7.0.

  • Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Certificate of Clinical Pharmacy are eligible to articulate into the M7F Master of Clinical Pharmacy with 50 credit points.
  • Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy (M6L course code) are eligible to articulate into the M7F Master of Clinical Pharmacy with 75 credit points.
  • Students who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Pharmacy with Professional Honours (Clinical Pharmacy) (M4Q course code) are eligible to articulate into the M7F Master of Clinical Pharmacy with 87.5 credit points.
  • Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy (H6H course code) are eligible to articulate into the M7F Master of Clinical Pharmacy with 100 credit points.
  • The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy is an exit award for units successfully passed that meet the requirements of the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy.
  • The Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy (H6H course code) is an exit award for units successfully passed that meet the requirements of the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy.

Fees & scholarships

Domestic students

Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, this means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

Commonwealth Supported Place indicative annual fee: $9,536

HECS-HELP loans

You may be able to defer payment of the student contribution amount by accessing a HECS-HELP loan from the Government. If eligible, you’ll only have to pay your tuition fees once you start earning above a specific amount.

An important note on Youth Allowance and Austudy

The Department of Social Services has approved some accredited and professionally-oriented master’s courses for student payments through Youth Allowance or Austudy. This means if you enrol in one of these courses, you may be eligible for student payments. However, this is not the case for all master’s courses. International students

2027 annual international student tuition fee: $35,450 AUD

The standard year of study for this course is 100 credit points.

Indicative total tuition fee for international students: $ 54,061 AUD.

International students are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the annual rate. International students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments.

Domestic scholarships

Each year the University of Tasmania administers an estimated $7 million in scholarships to students from all walks of life, including those who have achieved high academic results; those from low socio-economic backgrounds; students with sporting ability; students undertaking overseas study; and students with a disability.

Applications for most awards commencing in Semester 1 open at the beginning of August and close strictly on 31 October of the year prior.

As a domestic student, the cost of your course will depend on the band classification and the individual units that you study. Units studied within the Master of Clinical Pharmacy are predominantly classified in Band 2, with an indicative individual unit cost of $2,005.
