Bachelor of Justice Studies with Honours (R4D)

• 1 Critically analyse a range of sources to create and present coherent arguments relating to one or more areas of justice studies
• 2 Identify and synthesise justice related issues across local, national and international contexts.
• 3 Define and resolve complex problems associated with one or more areas of justice studies.
• 4 Communicate research in accordance with relevant disciplinary scholarly standards.
• 5 Conduct a supervised independent project that makes original contributions to justice studies research.

Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Justice Studies with Honours:

• must have qualified for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Justice Studies, or another approved Bachelor degree, in this University or another approved tertiary institution with a weighted average of 70% of higher, in the 200 and 300 level units forming a major in the proposed Honours discipline of study or in the Core units of the degree.
• if undertaking a combined honours program, should qualify for entry in both programs to be studied;

Exemptions regarding entry requirements may be made at the discretion of the Course Coordinator .

The Bachelor of Justice Studies with Honours provides pathways to (and from) a number of other courses in the College of Arts, Law and Education and the University of Tasmania: • Students who have completed another degree from this University, or another approved institution, with a social science focus can apply for credit for their previous study towards the Bachelor of Justice Studies with Honours. Units from courses offered by other Colleges of the University may be included provided they do not exceed Degree rules. • Students who have successfully completed the Bachelor of Justice Studies with Honours may apply for entry to a higher degree (Masters or PhD) in accordance with policies governing candidature for such admission. • Students who complete one semester of study in Honours but are unable to continue their study may graduate with a Graduate Certificate in Arts (Social Science) degree, or may apply at a future date to continue study in the relevant full fee paying Graduate Diploma degree (subject to availability) offered by the College of Arts, Law and Education. Where this is the case the student must submit their application for admission and for credit to the University.
