Original Sin: Has identity become our new religion?
ABC Radio Hobart and Dark Mofo are excited to present an exclusive preview event for Dark + Dangerous Thoughts 2019.
Hosted by Ryk Goddard, join us at the University of Tasmania's Dechaineux Lecture Theatre as we dive into this year's theme: issues of identity.
We will be joined by Dark + Dangerous Thoughts program director Laura Kroetsch, with DDT speakers Ginger Gorman and Shannon Burns for a one-hour discussion with a live audience, recorded for radio.
This is a free event, with limited release tickets, so reservations are essential.
The Dark + Dangerous Thoughts Teaser Panel:
- Ryk Goddard: Our Facilitator for the evening, Ryk presents the ABC Radio Hobart Breakfast program, starting your day with humour, intellect and a sense of adventure.
- Laura Kroetsch: Program Director of Dark + Dangerous Thoughts, Laura is also a critic and producer of literary events. Born and raised in the United States, Laura worked for many years in New Zealand as a writer, editor, event manager and critic, before working in Adelaide as the Director for Adelaide Writers' Week.
- Ginger Gorman: A social justice journalist, Ginger's first-hand experience of online hate compelled her to enter the world of internet trolls. She is now in demand as an expert on online hate and social media, and recently published the book Troll Hunting.
- Shannon Burns: An Australian writer of fiction, essay and review; his work can be found in Meanjin, including his essay 'In Defence of the Bad, White, Working Class', Best Australian Essays 2017, Meanjin, The Monthly, Australian Book Review, Griffith Review, Sydney Review of Books, the Australian, Overland, 3AM, and other literary journals. In 2009 Shannon was awarded the Adelaide Review Prize for short fiction.
The Dark + Dangerous Thoughts Teaser is presented by Dark Mofo, ABC Radio Hobart and the University of Tasmania.
