The Rural Health Nursing Research Group

The Rural Health Research Group (Nursing) aims to build strong connections with industry partners, the registered nurse workforce and the Tasmanian community in order to understand drivers that impact curriculum development, recruitment and retention and future planning related to the nursing workforce. As the largest group of health professionals, and within rural and remote settings often the only locally available health professionals, the nursing workforce is pivotal to healthcare provision and ultimately health outcomes in general.

The group’s research plan includes partnering with a broad range of health care providers and health care consumers to understand the health and access needs of rural communities and the role that nurses play in securing locally available health care. The research undertaken by this group will inform nursing education, practice and policy and care provision that will be reflected in improved health care of these populations.
