Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery

I chose to study the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery due to its wide career options available after I graduate. I also chose this course because it enabled me to combine my two passions: science and communicating with people.

The University of Tasmania was the right choice for me because it is so close to home and the medical cohort is only around a hundred students. This makes the course really enjoyable as we all know each other and lecturers are able to give us extra help individually if we need it.

The best aspects of my course so far has been the hands-on experience with anatomy through the Body Bequest Program, where students are able to dissect donated bodies. The Rural Community Placement and the Kids and Family Program were also a good eye-opener for me as well.

When I graduate I would like to specialise in cardiology. It has been a life-long dream for me to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon.

The Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery is a very rewarding course. It is also challenging, but you will have heaps of fun and be able to experience things that no other course will be able to give you!
