The Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management with Honours is a one year (full-time) up to three years (part-time) program designed for high-achieving students who are ready to deepen their expertise and explore their passion through research. Honours combines advanced study with a significant research project in your chosen field. Whether you're aiming to boost your employability, develop specialised analytical skills, or pave the way to a PhD, an honours degree offers a powerful platform to elevate your academic and professional future.

During your undergraduate studies, you may have discovered an aptitude for some subjects more than others or developed a passion for a particular field. Studying honours allows you to develop these areas further through your dissertation, building on the theories studied in your undergraduate course. The dissertation you prepare will contribute to leading research in your chosen field, ensuring your ideas are at the forefront of current thinking. This specialist knowledge will support your career development based on your individual strengths and interests.

In the honours year, you'll demonstrate your ability to undertake advanced study through a combination of coursework and research. You’ll have the flexibility to choose a postgraduate unit that aligns with your interests, while other units focus on building high-level research skills and exploring contemporary issues in maritime and logistics management. This advanced academic experience equips you with specialist knowledge and analytical capabilities that are highly valued by employers across the sector.

  • 1 Design and implement an independent research project in logistics and maritime management, using research principles and methods.
  • 2 Propose solutions to complex problems in the logistics and maritime management arena through reviewing, analysing, consolidating and synthesising knowledge.
  • 3 Evaluate logistic and maritime management practices using qualitative or quantitative research methods and techniques.
  • 4 Present research ideas and findings using a range of communication methods and to a variety of audiences.

We maintain close links with prospective employers and industry associations to ensure you can access opportunities that support your career development. We will connect you with professionals from the maritime and logistics industries through various events such as guest speakers and industry forums. The Maritime and Logistics Management Industry Forum has provided a medium for students to speak with senior managers from Tasmanian and interstate companies such as TasPorts, Agility Logistics, Toll Group, Australian National Lines (ANL), Oldendorff Carriers, and Patrick Stevedore. In addition to networking with industry professionals, attending events will also enable you to learn about the scope of employment prospects available to those who graduate with AMC’s Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management.
