  • 1 Articulate underlying principles, concepts and approaches to research in one or more disciplines.
  • 2 Critically evaluate and reflect on a range of social, cultural, political, ethical and environmental issues in local, cross-cultural and global contexts, through synthesis of different perspectives.
  • 3 Communicate disciplinary perspectives and knowledge effectively and ethically, to specialist and non-specialist audiences using written, oral and visual means.
  • 4 Plan and implement a major independent project in the context of scholarship and/or professional practice
  • 5 Employ self-management, creativity, flexibility, initiative, and resilience in completing course study, showing readiness for further study or work.

Course structure

In the Bachelor of Arts with Honours you will complete 100 credit points comprising;

  • a research project, usually completed over two semesters;
  • Honours coursework units;

In each semester you will complete research and coursework units, as per the schedule for your area of study below.

In your final semester, you will need to enrol in XSB400 which will record your final overall Honours result. This unit is administrative only and does not have classes or assessments.

Entry requirements

Completion of a Bachelor of Arts, or another approved Bachelor degree, in this University or another approved tertiary institution with a weighted average of 70% or higher, in the 200 and 300 level units forming a major in the proposed Honours discipline of study.

Fees & scholarships

Domestic students

Commonwealth supported places (CSP) are available for this course. For eligible domestic students, this means your fees will be subsidised by the Australian Government. You’ll only need to pay the student contribution amount for each unit you study within the course.

HECS-HELP loans

You may be able to defer payment of the student contribution amount by accessing a HECS-HELP loan from the Government. If eligible, you’ll only have to pay your tuition fees once you start earning above a specific amount.
